21:53:12 First look at Netflix Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew | |
First photographs and reports have emerged from the set of Greta Gerwig’s upcoming adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia. Production notices and early set photos released under several working codenames have allowed reporters and fans to link the project to The Magician’s Nephew. Camera operators Peter Robertson and Zoe Goodwin-Stuart Part of the shoot reportedly took place in Manchester at the historic Victoria Baths. Casting calls and production details published for that location mention large group scenes with boys and wardrobe/hair requirements consistent with a 1950s setting. That is notable because the original novel’s period differs (the source material is set earlier), and it remains unclear whether the film’s action has been broadly shifted to the 1950s or whether that era applies only to specific sequences. Filming then continued in London, where bts photos show Greta Gerwig alongside two young performers — David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell, who have been identified by set-watchers as the likely leads (presumed to be Digory and Polly). Netflix and the production have not confirmed all casting details officially at this time. Beatrice Campbell and David McKenna as Polly and Digory Many questions remain: why the apparent chronological shift from the book, how scenes set in the 1950s will be used narratively, and what other departures from the canon the adaptation may take. The production team has offered only limited comment so far. We will update as official statements and additional first-look material become available.
