| Douglas Gresham, the adopted son of the children's author C. S. Lewis stands beside a bronze sculpture of C. S. Lewis' most famous character the lion Aslan as he helps open C. S. Lewis Square on November 23, 2016 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. C. S. Lewis who was born and spent his childhood in east Belfast was a writer, poet and scholar of English literature. His most famous work is the Chronicles of Narnia, which includes The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The opening of the square, a greenway which incorporates seven permananent sculptures by artist Maurice Harron based on characters Lewis created from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, also marked the anniversary of the author's death in 1963 | |
